Gloria & Jason : Green Gables Estate Wedding

Hi All!

Today I am sharing the beautiful wedding of my friends Gloria and Jason.  I have known Gloria for maybe 8 or 9 years now {we used to cocktail at a nightclub together in another lifetime!} and I was super happy when she reached out to me to help piece together their big day at the Green Gables Estate. More than the planning, the details, and the meetings over cocktails, I loved more than anything else being a first hand witness to the union of two exceptionally charismatic people who were so utterly in love.   The way they way they would laugh and whisper to each other and steal kisses throughout their wedding weekend.... their thoughts, their vibes, and their movements were just so in sync. I remember thinking to myself that this is that wonderful kind of alchemy that occurs precisely when you say "I will" and "I do" to your very best friend.  So much good things are in store for them :)

A big warm THANK YOU to Marissa from Joe Latter Photographer for being so great to work with and for capturing these sweet-as-can-be photos of their lovely day ♥

Happy Friday Friends! Enjoy!!

Melissa & Brook's Laguna Cliffs Wedding by 618 Studios

At our very first face to face meeting Melissa made it known that both she and her charismatic better half, Brook, take "fun" very seriously.  (YESSS! My kind of peeps!) They are that fabulous pair that never shy away from a dance floor, a good cocktail, or hilarity with friends, and never would this be more true then on the most memorable days of their lives... their wedding day.  Amongst 170 equally enthusiastic guests, they danced, toasted, and laughed in a very vibrant reception at the Laguna Cliffs Resort.

I'm looking forward to soon sharing photos of their gorgeous day, but in the meantime check out their seriously fun highlight film from my totally cool friends at 618 Studios. (Go book them now!) Thank you Kelley & Paul for being such a joy to work with and for letting us relive Melissa & Brook's rockin' party!

Mandy & Derek : Figueroa Farmhouse Wedding

Hi Friends!

I am so excited to share with you this very special wedding day! I can honestly say that in the five years I have been planning weddings, this one is easily the most memorable one I have been a part of!  For starters, it was at the Figueroa Mountain Farmhouse.  All my wedding peeps and maybe even several of you lucky readers know how drop dead gorgeous {and how incredibly challenging} this location can be.  The Farmhouse is a unique, private retreat above the Santa Ynez Valley that just oozes with both tranquility and character.  Where the map ends on a worn mountain road, your markers usher you to a narrow windy path that drops you into a secluded mountain bowl of rolling hills and flat meadows.  The view and the feel of the space is absolutely intoxicating... every single fiber of your being feels the soul of that place.  It's sensational.

Then there's Mandy & Derek.  I met Mandy over 10 years ago when we both worked for the Angels Baseball Club.  I've always known Mandy to be sweet and funny and carefree, and when we reconnected to plan her wedding I instantly picked up on how creative and passionate and sprited she had grown to become.  In our conversations, it couldn't be more obvious that she loves her family, her friends, and her fiance. And she loves them hard.  It was no surprise to me when meeting Derek, that he shared that same affinity for the people around him.  His presence is warm and his demeanor is hospitable and gentle.  I'm basically obsessed with these two.

After boasting that I've done over 70+ weddings without a single one being rained on, it rained poured for hours before and during their big day. This obviously created several large problems for us.  For starters, this happened...

Ya that would be the groom and the best man {lifesavers!} towing our car up a muddy mountain to get to the venue. {I took the most hilarious video of this but there's a lot of inappropriate words in the video -woops!- so I'll spare you!}  Would you believe they did this for several cars that wedged themselves into the mud?! It's still so funny to think that a day that started this ridiculous turned out so perfect in the end!

Our plans to tent the event were also curbed by the mushy mud, so some quick thinking, a little discussion, and a lot of prayers and help from their gracious families put a new plan in motion to move 100+ guests inside the main house for the reception.  This kind of Plan B would break any bride {it's ok Mandy, I was crying on the inside too!} but I begged our lovely lady to keep on keeping on, and to trust us to make sh*t happen. {I swear I didn't use those words, though when it comes to wedding days, I'm not above it! lol}

I could go on for hours recounting the stories that made this day so memorable... about how this amazing family rolled up their sleeves {and pants!} and helped us pull it off.  How even when given the choice to watch from the indoor deck, nearly everyone opted to instead grab an umbrella and head out to a wet ceremony. How Mandy & Derek shook their heads but laughed and smiled as the weather sprayed every which way. How we tactfully but hastily blow-dried Mandy's dress post nuptials. How the rain {of course} departed only moments after we moved inside. How my fearless team moonlighted as stagehands, florists, and caterers that weekend. How guests took the "minor details" all in stride and unanimously vowed to be of good cheer and celebrate the newlyweds.  How her adoring mom and I shared the biggest hug, a huge laugh and sigh of relief, and a smore at the end of the night.  And of course, how Mandy and Derek so intentionally and admirably focused on each other, like they'd been doing for years, as they danced into the wee hours of the night.  There is just so much to be said about two people who can dance in the rain.  Literally.  What better depiction of a love that's resilient and determined than one that can withstand a stormy sky!  I LOVE THIS.

I've said an earful!!  It's time for the eye candy!  Without further ado and with the help of my new friends, Joseph & Andrea from Connection Photography, I am so thrilled to {finally} share with you all the magic that was Mandy & Derek's big day.  Enjoy the photos!

V3 Celebrates! Brooklyn's Baby Dedication

My goodness, it's awfully quiet around here :(  I admit, I have been the WORST blogger as of late and if busyness were any excuse, well then I would have a minimum of 24673 reasons why I've neglected to check in!! SRSLY! I'm aware it's hardly an excuse these days but between our wonderful 2013 clients, my mommy and wifey life, and our new business venture (more on this soon!),  the time just seems to get away from me in the most fleeting fashion. I can't believe we are almost half way into 2013.  I still have weddings from last year to share, yikes!  But since most of the wedding photos are still cookin' or are being slated for features on a couple blogs and publications (yay!), I will -for now- share a few pictures of my daughter's baby dedication party from early spring.

This party was super fun to put together because a) I didn't get to throw her a first bday party so I insisted we fancy it up a bit, b) nearly all our closest, favorite people celebrated with us, and c) my little Brooklyn was such a doll of a client ;)  Seriously though, isn't she the cutest thing, like, EVER?! hehe

An ENORMOUS THANK YOU to my dear friend Trista Lerit for coming and for capturing photos of our joyous day! ♥
Here is a shot my cousin took of us with our little party animals :)

Laleh & Amir : Segerstrom Center for the Arts Wedding

We are so elated to be able to share this gorgeous affair! Laleh & Amir were married at the ever amazing Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa, CA.  I met with Laleh & Amir just months before they wed. Laleh did an incredible job planning her day and we were so thrilled when she asked us to come on board to pull together and coordinate all the details.

This was not our first Iranian wedding but it was our first time putting together a Sofreh Aghd, the traditional wedding spread of Persian ceremonies.  I absolutely LOVED learning about and piecing together all the meaningful trinkets that made up their beautiful sofreh.  Their intimate ceremony took place on the rooftop balcony of the Center, where they were honored and showered with love and gifts from their closest friends and family.  We then moved inside the gorgeous multi tiered building where vibrant orange flowers and floods of uplights set the mood for a more jubilant bash. Persian weddings are so awesome and wonderful, in that they are truly, truly, truly a celebration! It was so touching to see everyone, and I mean, EVERY.LAST.GUEST, without exception, cheering, dancing, loving on, and celebrating the newlyweds!  Just amazing!

Laleh & Amir, thank you so much for allowing us to be a part of your unforgettable day!  And thank you to Jaime & Dennis of Viera Photographics for sharing these stunning images.  I hope you all enjoy them as much as we do =)  Cheers!

Love is so so sweet :)
